Tandoori Paneer Puffs

The fifth and final day of Diwali, Bhai Beej, revolves around the brother-sister relationship.  Typically the brother will travel to his sister’s house symbolizing respect and protection.  In return the sister will feed her brother.  For Bhai Beej, I experimented with a new recipe I shared with my brother this past weekend: Tandoori Paneer Puffs! 🙂

The tandoori paneer filling is very straightforward to make! Simply, chop up the veggies, sautè everything in a pan, fill the pastry sheets, and bake it in the oven. Be sure to thaw the sheets before using them.

Each puff pastry box has 2 sheets. I cut each of the sheets into 6 rectangles. Put the filling on one side, and then fold the other side over the filling. Use water to stick the sides together and press a fork down on the edges to seal the pastry sheets. There is a lot of flour on the sheets, so adding water to the 3 edges will turn that flour into a paste and make it easier to seal the edges.

Bhai Beej marks the end of the Diwali celebrations. And also the end of my Diwali recipes this year:   Nankhatai, Mixed Veg Pakoda, Rose Cheesecake, Paneer Puffs, and Shrikhand.  Happy Diwali and Saal Mubarak until next year!
